My name is Mike Adler and I am a college student majoring in Audio Arts and Acoustics at Columbia College Chicago. My goal in creating this blog is to use important aspects of my major, such as analyzing specific properties of different sounds and using those sounds to create a piece of audio, to show people (through recorded audio, of course) what the modern-day city of Chicago sounds like through the ears of an audio-phile. What I intend to do is gather various sound clips, or audio files, in different areas of Chicago and write a brief description of the location and source of the recorded sound. In the final post I will layer the collection of sound-files over each other to create a collage of sounds that, to me, represent Chicago in the way that I hear it.
Glad you are finally up and running. As you move forward, please consider both the substance and design of your blog.
ReplyDeleteIf you cannot manage a visually sophisticated blog, it is better to err on the side of lean and clean than on the side of bells and whistles busy.
I wasn't planning on doing much more in the visual aspect of the blog, but do you think it looks to "busy" as it is right now. I like the way it looks as-is but please give me your input. Audio will be up VERY soon.
ReplyDeleteI think what's making it look or seem busy is the tiled background image. I haven't tried placing an image as a background yet but i'm sure theres a way to make it one image. I really enjoy the heading up top "Chicago through my ears" and feel that in itself is a clear message to your intended audience about this blog.
